Re: Atom 4 first drive

Sounds like a fair review to me. The gearbox bushes do make a big difference to positivity, especially on track. Mine is now positive on changes, especially 5/4/3, where it was rubbery and lacked precision before. The brakes improve in time but the Alcons remain a better braking system for initial b...

Looks like an R to me too.
A very nice one at that.
Enjoy.

The engine, I reckon ;)

I'm pretty sure there'll still be an engine Hedgey Boy. Interesting ;)

Re: When is a 3.5R not a 3.5R?

Ariel did some installations of the oil cooler etc not in pods but I can't see anything additional on the pics (but admittedly being no expert.) The wings are non-Ariel and I certainly don't think that it's anything close to a full 3.5R. It has Bilsteins which are fine but no ohlins. It's a standard...

Re: Adjustable Traction Control - Any good?

Hi Abel, Having had two Atoms without traction I wasn't keen on the idea. It is however a brilliant system and a revelation. You can do wet track days and really keep the power on should you wish. It's the best system bar none that I've had on a track car. It's way better than the Lotus system imo. ...

Re: I’m on the list.

Is the factory upgraded gear linkage bushing the same modification as in this video? How much is it from Ariel (including VAT 😉)? Are there any other additions to the options list, the one I have is from when I put my deposit down in Feb 2020? Thanks Phil Yes, that's the one. I can't remember how m...

Is upgraded gear linkage bushing now a factory option?
Yes....and absolutely worth it too. Transformed my 5/4/3 gear change :tu:

Re: Atom 4 wings

Stu, What reduction in top speed were you seeing? Or was it mitigated by the higher cornering speeds possible? It's difficult to say Pete but it was significant for me. I did a few days last year when the temperature was 30 degrees in the UK and I was struggling to get the car over 135mph on a few ...

Re: Atom 4 wings

Is that worth the drag? The quick answer is on a cold day yes, on a hot day no. The drag makes the engine work harder (obviously) and thus on hot days temperatures rise and the engine will cut power after a while to protect itself. On normal temperature days this doesn't happen, nor does it happen ...

Re: The Atom Video Thread - Post links to Atom videos here

What sort of temperatures were you seeing during the day? Simon on Facebook has data to suggest there's a significant pullback on power once you creep up past 104C and my ~4mph down on the back straight seems to confirm that. It's a shame though because I've got the sports radiator and for the pric...

Re: The Atom Video Thread - Post links to Atom videos here

Thanks! Our lines look very similar so I'd imagine the time pretty much all comes from the a052s and the power upgrade. I've not got traction control on mine either but in hindsight probably should have specced it 😂 I think there's a lot more to come from the brakes for me too but hopefully that'll...

Re: The Atom Video Thread - Post links to Atom videos here

Snetterton 300 configuration with Javelin, awful weather on the way and for half the day, dried up for an hour or so, then back to light rain, was 'interesting' as it was difficult to know how dry or wet the track would be from one minute to the next .. First time at track in Atom with limited dry ...

Re: New 2-piece design discs for Alcon brakes

Did anybody already fit the new design 2-piece brake discs from the factory and would perhaps share the experiences? Many thanks I've got the AP 2 piece jobbies on my 4 but didn't know if you were talking about Alcon ones for the 3? The brakes are entirely different on the 4 to the 3 so it's a bit ...

Re: Remap kit less than £400

Is anyone really going to spend £50k+ on a bespoke car like the Atom then bung on a piggyback ecu? Brave if you do. Ariel are brilliant at customer service but they're not fools. They will know pretty quickly if the engine has gone beyond its standard parameters. I also suspect that the sports cat t...
