Re: To PPF or not

There is a fitter about 15 miles from Ariel. He did the bonnet on my 4 a few weeks before delivery. James at South West Tinting on 07787 575878. Very thorough job.

Re: To PPF or not

There are really only three parts of the car that get battered. Bonnet paintwork, front third of the rear mudguards and the rear wishbones and drive shafts. That’s all I would cover, for a very clean car when you come to sell. There is a point at which the PPF job far exceeds the cost of leaving it ...

Re: Which type of brakes

I've driven all of the brake types. Alcons should be standard fit, in my opinion. With the acceleration of the 220s upwards to the new 350s, you really do want to drive around knowing that after a big road overtake you can slow the car quickly or on track, when hurtling toward a slow corner, you can...

Re: EVs don't suit everyone.

There has been talk of mobile charging units/vehicles. You don't find a charge point — it finds you. Whether you're at home, on holiday or stranded somewhere. The fact remains, though, that the infrastructure for nationwide EV adoption is a loooong way off. It's why hydrogen must be part of the solu...

Re: Other Forums slanted towards the US

I suspect the US forum suffers from the same malaise that this one suffers from. Facebook is pulling people away from club forums because it offers, by comparison, a 21st century interface where users can post text, image or video very easily. It's not a change I want to see, because I don't want Fa...

Re: Sport brake package

I'd say the standard brakes are adequate on the road, although I've not tried a 4 on standard brakes; just the previous models. Given how we drive on some of our trips, I love the confidence the sports give you.

On the track, standard brakes make your whites browner.

Re: Sport brake package

Having driven all flavours (standard brakes, sport front-only and sport F&R), I'd always go for sport all round. The stopping/slowing power is phenomenal. When you've just made a fast overtake on the road and need to scrub off speed fast, you'll be glad you have them.

Have you let Ariel know? They might fancy it for the electric Atom that will come one day.

Re: Atom 4 - Build and Collection

Handbrake is now standard fit, Phil. ;o)

I would change the harnesses for 3 inchers. They are more comfortable when under heavy pressure on track.

Re: Atom 4 - Build and Collection

I can see the value in setting 1 for when it's hosing it down. Despite being easy with your right foot, an Atom can be a handful in torrential rain and standing water. A few of us have been through that experience overseas. Or maybe you want to let your grown-up son or daughter drive, on track, with...
