Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

Hey FrankRizzo , I am sorry for not updating. Unfortunately I had two canceled/delayed orders for the Delphi Metri Pack 150 connectors. As I don't want to wait any longer I've placed an order for fakes from AliExpress, they are one third or forth of the price. They are currently awaiting a customs c...

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

FrankRizzo you are a lifesafer! How come you know so much about it? I was sure that I would need to invest hours and hours figuring this out myself, was actually looking through my schedule when I would fit this in. How can I buy you a beer, or two? The immobiliser unit arrived yesterday, or the da...

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

Ben, this is what's used on the US AA2: https://www.automotiveconnectors.com/10-way-delphi-metri-pack-150-sealed-connector-male-black.html FrankRizzo thank you! This is pretty useful information, I've always wondered what this contraption does. https://i.imgur.com/gJ28LXb.jpg I've just ordered two ...

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

Someone just up and removed the immobilizer and added a cheap key switch? Now that's SPECIAL! (shakes head) I hope you ordered your new unit from Ariel, as the ones you get from eBay don't have the connector on them, and the wires are way too long. I can't tell what happened to the old immobilizer ...

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

So, I've exchanged some emails with the ever so helpful Matt from Ariel.
My Ariel is missing the immobilizer, I've always wondered what the two bolts are used for.

So I went ahead and ordered the immobiliser unit.

Re: NA AA2 - 50°C difference in exhaust temperatures

OK, if I would have read everything from the owners handbook I could have known about the 245 and 275 HP Atoms. It states so on the page about the battery box.

Re: 2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

FrankRizzo Good point with the locking gas cap, totally forgot about it. Here are pictures of the key in action https://i.imgur.com/2zUa6Z4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/t0FuHCe.jpg Unfortunately the key is so flimsy that I can't bring myself to lock the filler cap, so I just leave it open. I have other ...

2004 A2, is a key with a blade normal?

Hey, my 2004 Atom 2 came with two keys with a blade, photo below. I have never seen/read about that before, only about cars with a key fob. Couldn't find anything via the search. The key if horrid, it's super flimsy material, security is a joke, you don't want to put any weight on it. Is that normal...

Re: NA AA2 - 50°C difference in exhaust temperatures

Hey Alec, thank you very much, so I've just learned something. :tu: I was not aware that there was a 245 HP NA nor a 275 HP boosted option available. I actually have the COC "document" on hand, picture below. It states the power as 161kW, that converts to 216 mechanical HP and 219 metrical...

Re: NA AA2 - 50°C difference in exhaust temperatures

Quick update #2 As it didn't make any sense that the ECU of a well running injection engine doesn't know the revs I've checked every connection, I took apart more then I care to admit. Long story short, all is well, the OBD mapping kit is working as expected. https://i.imgur.com/QBdPclV.png I also g...

Re: NA AA2 - 50°C difference in exhaust temperatures

Quick update The OBD mapping kit and the wiring harness arrived. Installed Easimap 6, after some minor stuff I am now presented with this. https://i.imgur.com/bgV6wzc.png Next task is to backup the ECU and flash the newest Version. So the ECU not knowing the rev signal explains the Dash not showing ...

Re: NA AA2 - 50°C difference in exhaust temperatures

Hey Gambba, welcome to the forum and thank you fora ll of the information. Quite interesting that there might be the possibility to upgrade the MBE ECU with OBD, will do some research when time allows. I wanted to upgrade to a digital dash anyways because .. well because it looks pretty hightec and ...

Re: NA AA2 - 50°C difference in exhaust temperatures

Can't really move the car right now as some idiot (me) put 100kg of batteries in front of the car in order to charge them, that will only take a week or so. Maybe you bought the first electrical Atom. Hell no, the Ariel is the worlds most unpractical car as it is, it combines all of the negatives f...

Re: NA AA2 - 50°C difference in exhaust temperatures

Hey Curves Junkie, thank you for your input, my current plan of attack is to send in the injectors to be cleaned and matched. After that I should have a solid basis on where to look at. The early AA2 seem to be equipped with the MBE Setup that was later changed to a Hondata ECU until as well. I am p...

Re: NA AA2 - 50°C difference in exhaust temperatures

Hey Curves Junkie,
my Ariel uses the Honda K20A2, normally aspirated, unfortunately it uses the MBE ECU. So, from what I understand, I can't get any diagnostics data out of the system.
