Re: Is Atom (4) Reliable Over the Long Term?
I have owned many cars and tracked all the fastest of them. Many of them suffered from breakdowns or great expense to keep up together. My son noticed the Ariel Atom's would come in refuel and go out again, so reliable. I purchased my first Atom 4 in January 2021 and have covered 3500 miles, mostly ...

Re: So, I ran out of talent at Snetterton!
Hi Ray, I saw your car down at the Ariel factory, sad to see and hear about. At least you are okay and not damaged. With insurance you would have had to pay around £10,000 towards repair (in my experience with track damaged cars). This sort of thing can catch any of us out on track. I hope the cost ...

Re: Aquaplaning on track
For what it's worth here are my thoughts on aquaplaning reasons. If the standing water is deeper than your tread pattern, you will aquaplane. Tires with a groove cut all round the circumference will fair better than the tires that try and disperse the water sideways. Racing car drivers and good moto...

Trackday 6/8/2021
As I thought the Atom is much faster. 1:47.08 and still not pushing the Atom to it's limits. Running on Avon ZZR's and no wings.

Re: Db limit on track days
thx Peter, wasted journey not wanted )
Standard test is 45 degrees from exhaust exit at 0.5 meters with engine at 4500 revs (for normal car engines that redline around 7000 rpm)
Thruxton is very low at 90db, I had serious doubts, Peter255 confirmed it. No journey to Thruxton for my Atom then.

Re: Db limit on track days
Does anyone know if an Atom 4 with cat bypass and standard exhaust (350 hp) can pass the 90db static test at Thruxton

Re: First track day coming up
I do not know Bilstein dampers, so someone else will help. Just stiffen the car up on the dampers slightly. You do not want the car to handle wildly different to what your used to. I hope some of this helps, even though you never asked for it. If your fast, cars just get in the way as you pass them ...

Donington GP trackday 30/04/2021
My first track day in my Atom 4. I put my Atom on the track settings for Ohlins as advised by Ariel manual. She performed well and much faster than I was willing to go. I have had some fast cars, but never as willing as this to turn laps. I came back into the pits expecting her to be hot and wanting...

Re: Atom 4 - Build and Collection
Further to the above. The Ohlins are great, not too stiff and our roads in the Forest of Dean are bad (potholes and badly patched up tarmac everywhere). I did make them softer by two clicks all round, finding it too bouncy, settled for one click all round softer than factory road settings. It rides ...

Re: Atom 4 - Build and Collection
My first drive in my Atom 4. 350BHP, lightened flywheel, Ohlins TTX(factory settings for the road), limited slip diff, road legal track tyres,. I have been concerned about my first drive. I have had a few passenger rides in supercharged Atom's, but no drives. I have owned and driven very fast cars b...

Re: Atom 4 - Build and Collection
My Atom arrives at last. I have yet to drive an Atom, anxious wait till a bit of good weather. The two photo's are the Ariel lorry delivery and the Atom in the heated and dehumidified (just for the Atom) crowded garage, please excuse the mess. Note. the Aprillia Tuono 1100 factory. Just to prove. I ...

Re: Atom 4 - Build and Collection
Nice, enjoy the itchy fingers till that fair weather arrives and then wishing you some safe fun. I like the stealth look.
I have put a heater and dehumidifier in my garage ready for my newly born baby Atom to arrive (two weeks and two days to go and counting the minutes).

Wow, can you not buy a small house in another Atom friendly EU country, register it there. Might be cheaper and you get a holiday home thrown in.
Best of luck to you and I hope you find it well worth the money
