Re: Does Frame Get Hot in Sun?

autobackup : Gotcha. All my cars but one have been Roadsters. So, I can relate! However, 104F/40C is a heat wave! I try to avoid driving with top down or riding. I wouldn't take out a car like Atom at such temps! 8) And, no, don't wanna visualize your soggy whatever....! :vroom: So, the collective ...

Re: Does Frame Get Hot in Sun?

.......... However driving it is another matter as the seat quickly becomes a sauna which can result in a sweaty/soggy backside - I have the full windscreen fitted because driving it the heat with the aero screens fitted is like driving into a blast furnace and it also means I can safely dispense w...

Re: Does Frame Get Hot in Sun?

....... original unvovered ones they get too hot to jump in within less than 5 minutes. Surprised to hear the frame doesn't get hot. However, I'm bit shocked to hear the seat gets too hot in less than 5 minutes! Leather surfaces are notorious for getting hot in just a few minutes as well. That's wh...

Re: Does Frame Get Hot in Sun?

.........the seat is getting very hot in the sun, the frame is not a problem. ...........i found 2 Guys sitting in my car when i came back. Yeah, I thought about seats too. Do they get hotter than leather seats? So, the frame isn't getting hot? Too bad about morons getting in the car; they are ever...

Re: Does Frame Get Hot in Sun?

Thanks, Sledgehammer . Would you happen to have a picture with the cover on? So, you never tried parking without the cover? Here is another similar data point: In both my Spyders, I've this aluminum shifter: 981 Spyder Classic Shift Knob 3.jpg When parked in sun, even for an hour or so, with the top...

Does Frame Get Hot in Sun?

When the car is parked in hot sun for a couple of hours, does the frame get too hot to touch? When getting out, I’m guessing you’ll need to place your hands on the frame, inside and outside, to lift yourself up, step on the seat, all the while keep a hand on the outside frame for balance? Similarly,...

Re: Is Atom (4) Reliable Over the Long Term?

dooke2000 : Impressively reliable track run indeed! Thanks for sharing. I don't plan to track. But, hope to be driving the Atom, spiritedly, right into ripe old age! Even if I need a walking cane!! Thanks, mrpgkennedy : Glad to hear the long, reliable track reco...

Re: Is Atom (4) Reliable Over the Long Term?

speedmachine : Good to know. Actually, it's great that the components are the same between both the versions since the overall quality of British model is high. We don't have much data from the US version since not many are on the road. Yeah, Atom can be usable well into ripe old ...

Re: Is Atom (4) Reliable Over the Long Term?

Thanks, Phil. Understandable. Glad to hear it is generally problem-free. The build quality could differ a bit between Ariel and TMI (US Builder). There aren't many 4s in the US to validate TMI's quality, yet. Will keep a watch. My timeframe is a couple of years out anyway; in fact, trying to time it...

Re: Is Atom (4) Reliable Over the Long Term?

Thanks. Atom, 4 in particular, seems far ahead in terms of reliability and build quality. I'm a big fan of Honda powertrain. Have had couple of S2000s for about 18 years. Totally reliable, fun experience. My intended use is exclusively street. Not worried about the maintenance; I would work with an ...

Is Atom (4) Reliable Over the Long Term?

Hello gentlemen. What are your experiences and thoughts on the long term reliability? My ideal roadmap is to have Seven 420R and Atom 4. But, if I can't pull it off and if I have to choose one, I'm trying to determine what that might be. I've spent a lot of time reading through a ton of forum materi...
