Re: Finally, Nomad bought!

Maybe we're getting a bit closer to arranging another Salisbury Plain adventure - what do you think @nfcf? Maybe slightly closer to the Midlands next time? 2hrs each way for 3hrs off roading was a bit much. I might see if I can plan a route down on lanes which would help. Reduced the mileage on the...

Re: Frame Protection Strips

I've used 3M 8671HS tape to protect additional areas on the frame and you can buy it in various sizes depending on what you want to use it for. I will say it is slightly thicker than what Ariel use but appears to be more durable. Use a corner punch to round the edges and make it look like the factor...

Re: Question about the spare wheel carrier

I wouldn't trust the side panel to hold the weight. If you want to keep the spare wheel and have storage mudnomad has both mounted on the carrier. If you Google MudNomad you'll get his various social media pages with loads of photos This image from his Facebook page should give yo...

Re: Question on suspension set up

As Phil says the click is the feeling not really as sound as the adjuster clicks into place. Make sure you have the car on the ground when adjusting the suspension as I have found on some shocks the click is more noticeable with the suspension loaded.

Re: Finally, Nomad bought!

That's quite the change in car. I used to frequently see a hellcat on my way to work and they look and sound awesome. Of a the advertised ones I have deliberately been happy to buy with some proper miles (@5000) under the wheels. Too little use isn't a good thing. Id prefer any early faults have bee...

Re: Luggage

Mounting them on the fenders will change the unsprung mass which will affect the handling. Probably not an issue if you only put light items but worth bearing in mind. Like Karl I've mounted a top box instead of the spare wheel (not much use if you don't have a jack) and I strap a pair of kriega bag...

Re: Nomad Fluids....

From memory
engine oil is 10w40 castrol magnatec
Coolant is OAT
Gearbox oil is the genuine Honda transmission fluid

I'll try and remember to confirm it Friday when I'm back in the UK if no one else has.

Re: New Gadget

I've been using the DG10 since August and thought I should add a few bits on to this as it might help others out. I'm personally not a huge fan of the over ear units when using sunglasses so I have a pair of these with a custom connector. The Rita and Dan at gprdirect.com sorted them out for me but ...

Re: General Nomad Questions

Is the rear bumper ok to sit on? I can't see where the front bumper mounts so blindly assume it can, but the rear seems to reduce down to the 4 bolts, eg. where the recovery straps go. Are they going to take a chunky monkey like me sitting on it? Even if it was only held on by one bolt you'd be fin...

Re: Geolandar tread depth

The tyres are still legal until the 1.6mm UK minimum requirement as the wear guides are just that - a guide. I suspect the 4mm wear markers will be to cater to the German winter tyre laws and you'll find them on most tyres marked with 3PMSF.
