Got one more to show the pods I got from the UK! Ahh, looks like I already spun in turn 2 before I took this pic. Sorry about the dust

Re: The Bastard's Build

Finally, got some much needed R&R, i.e. Ran the Rotrex! 7 months of not driving made for some questionable driving moves, but the boost made up for it in shoves. Pinched a 1:32.2

Re: The Bastard's Build

Nice! I bet it will feel crazy to drive, but a lot of fun I am sure. You can see just how linear those engines are in terms of power delivery. Can you explain the silicone hoses, what was the problem here? I bet it's loads of fun! The power to weight is somewhere between a Veryon and a Chiron. Will...

Re: The Bastard's Build

It turns out the combination of silicon hoses to clear the tray and the apparently restrictive Jim Wolf Filter was collapsing the hoses on the intake. Shop revised the intake system by reducing the use of hoses and adding an even larger filter element and raised the rev limiter back to 8,000 rpm. Th...

Re: Atom 4 on Top Gear

A lot of the overheating issues you see with Ultimas tend to be the bigger LS7 engines. The newer LT engines run cooler. I will also probably upgrade the radiator and have no plans to supercharge it. If I go for the LT4 that is supercharged but the LT1 is not so should run cooler. The LT1 is consid...

Re: 3.5 vs 3.5R dyno runs

IMG_6176.jpg Any good? That was last year..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Is that wheel or flywheel power? I've seen this shop do both. That's from the SRR session we did and its calculated / estimated crank figures. Pretty much spot on 350BHP (+/- 1%) as per the spec from Ariel. :tu: Thank...

Re: Atom 4 on Top Gear

I once dreamed of an Ultima as well. I still think it's a fantastic creation but I wouldn't buy one. The one time I had a chance to run against one at Laguna Seca it broke down the first minute. Not sure it even left the paddock. Then I owned a C7 Corvette Z06 and did nothing but break down and over...

Re: The Bastard's Build

Well, my Atom was making 300hp/230tq all motor a the crank. A well driven SR3 is about 3 seconds faster, even though I have dual element wings front and back. They are on slicks too and have roughly the same power to weight. However, that SR3 body is much more slick and low drag. Even if I powered o...

Re: The Bastard's Build

Nice figures! :tu: Well done you must be pleased! 400Hp in an Atom will be rapid!!! >:D I don't know what I am more excited about, the straigtline speed increase to make more passes and hit more top speed records, the noise of that blow off valve, the sexy look of the sidepods, or hanging with the ...

Re: The Bastard's Build

The TTS air to air heat exchanger is built to fit under the airbox cover, yes. In this application we just tilted it forward to fit, but with a smaller deck K20 and smaller C30 Rotrex it will fit vertical without any angle. We have a tune! The shop finished tuning it, I was a bit surprised how conse...

Re: Atom 4 noise measurement reference thread.

There are too many aspects of sound testing to replicate at home with any mic: *weighting *reflection/absorbtion (ie. the environment in which you test and generate the sound) *distance *mic itself (mostly how directional it is) You could use a mic in an open environment to some extent to angle the ...

Re: New Project 3.5 360bhp

It appears the head is flowing nicely up top. With the original 9,000 rpm+ rev goal it should make more power if revved more. Charge air too hot or reliability concerns exist for revving it higher? Stock bottom end and heads can do 8,000 rpm all day so all those good $$ parts in this build are not r...

Re: The Bastard's Build

Looking forward to seeing where you can mount this... :tu: Indeed, the Rotrex C38R does not fit without work, it's bigger in some dimensions than the older top dog C38. The shop had to remove the RRC intake manifold, mill it, and weld it back up for clearance. Car should run by mid March. :vroom:
