Re: AA4 ECU flash for water temps

I did 2 days at Spa a couple of weeks back.
It was cool (7 -10 degrees) but I didn't see above 84 the whole time.
That temp was at the end of the Kemmel just before having to brake.
Indicated speed on the car was 154mph at the time, so that bodes well for everywhere, even in the summer!
Cheers,
Stu

Re: A4 options list. Must haves? Can I add later?

Cheers! I did think Traction control would be a sensible option! Does anyone go DIY with adding options after purchase, or does that risk lowering resale too much? Reversing camera and battery cut off being good examples that would not be difficult to add yourself... Nope, as easy as it is to add t...

Re: Brakes Pads for Atom 4 AP track bias brakes

I've been using the Ferodo's but find that they lack a bit of feel on track compared to the Mintex 1144's that I had on my 3.5. I've just bought Pagid RS14's all round which seems to be the pad of choice at the moment. The calipers on this car won't take the Mintex's as they are 16mm vs the maximum ...

robfitz wrote: Wed Aug 03, 2022 5:20 pm Stu - did you get yours fitted at the factory?
Yes, it was the first set they had done. I think that they were interested to see how the springs went particularly.

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

Just a quick update. Fitted larger master cylinder, knock back springs and brace bar. Did Bilsterberg and Spa. Braking is now epic again. More force required on the brake pedal but you soon get used to it. Maybe overkill if you don't use it on track but a million times better if you do. The pedal re...

Re: Water temperature

As anyone tried flushing the coolant and replacing with non antifreeze one for the summer ? Using Sikolene Pro CCA Ultra (or Mocool) with distilled water is supposedly up to 20% better on heat transfer I think that Yorkshire has done this. I used to use a waterless coolant (Powercool 180) on a coup...

Re: Water temperature

I'm at Bedford GT tomorrow, 37 degrees in the afternoon, will be interesting to see if I can get a single fast lap in without temps hitting over 102 and power being restricted .. It will be interesting to hear back after your day. I suspect if you have wings you're gonna struggle! Hope you have a g...

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

Having spoken to the Factory, they aren't keen to do any work to a customer's car that they haven't tested themselves on their own car. I think that they will certainly try to the master cylinder at some point and possibly the springs too but haven't done so yet. Hopefully Henry will get into this v...

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

I've bought the larger master cylinder and the springs. Having spoken to ben at Corten-Miller I've also ordered the brace bar. It may not change the performance of the pedal per-se but the amount of flex Phil has shown above can't be a good thing long term. He seriously knows his onions and for trac...

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

Could I please trouble you for the link on buying these? I've bought the larger master cylinder and am getting that fitted next week. I'm thinking of going to Mintex 1144's as I can then better understand the difference from my old 3.5. Being a technical ludite, does anyone know which size fits the...

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

Re Atom 4 with AP brakes - as previewed the other day, we've now added 4lb anti-knockback caliper piston springs and discarded the dust seals. The brake pedal is now the firmest it's ever been, and stayed good after a fairly lengthy road test, although the proper test will be out on track in about ...

Re: Lost in France

Er, should have said heading Normandy way... Oh ffs Nick, you muppet ;) ;D Normandy is hardly south! Honfleur is lovely. We stayed in Port en Bessin last year which was perfect for Batterie Alemande, pont du Hoc, the American Cemetery and Bayeux for the British Cemetery and that tapestry thing that...

Re: Lost in France

Just drove there yesterday funnily enough. The non-toll road from Cannes to St Tropez was excellent!
Would not want to do it in the Summer though, it would be way too busy.

We're heading off to Italy on the coast road later in the week.

Re: Lost in France

Nick, We're in France at the mo, having been in Switzerland. Annecy is really nice, and the Route Napoleon from Grenoble to Grasse is excellent (well, in honesty the bit from Sisteron down to Grasse is great, the rest is a bit meh! That said, Even though the high passes aren't open at the moment, th...

Re: Atom 4 first drive

Very interesting thoughts JP. I'm not convinced it's the pads (the DS 2500s don't seem to last anything like as long as the Mintex1144's in my old 3.5, which makes me think that they are soft enough. They seem to be very good to me when heated well and with heavy pressure. The problem is the pedal t...
