Re: First trackday in my Atom 4

I did similar on my throttle but only 10mm off the edge as kept catching it which stopped sequential downshift as car thought you were accelerating. You can also move the brake pad across to the left if you unbolt it there are different mounting points behind to offset it to the left

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

Your definitely right but its an individual feel thing. The cylinder change is the cheapest and easiest the springs are messy and complicated to fit and the brace from what i have been told is £250 ish. All these firm up the brakes but then its a fine line between max brake and lock up (IMO) All thr...

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

I’m glad it all worked out ok but without a back to back test of one just with a master cylinder change or one just with knock back springs we will never really know what made the difference I know of five Atoms that have purely changed master cylinder and there brakes seem fine now Could someone ju...

Re: Water temperature

I have changed all my coolant to VP Race ready coolant (the blue one not purple) but until i have finished my tune i can't really report any facts. I know my car ran up to 108 degrees at Donnington Park so waiting to see if any change before i alter anything else. Bob Smith came up with an idea re m...

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

To plip1953: So have some cars or one car been fitted with just springs no cylinder change that would be really good to show just the effect of the knock back springs

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

Have all cars been fitted with new master cylinder and knock back springs? My car just has the cylinder altered so i'm interested in whether the knock back springs make any difference Thanks Stuart

Re: Factory Supercharger kit for sale

Having done all this on my old 3.5R the way forward is the Merc Racing Kit with the TVS1320 supercharger. Charge cooler is very large so work well i had 465whp on my engine (although engine was build not standard). You will have to buy sidepods off Ariel though as need space to house radiator for co...

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

Hi Reg
Have you fitted the new cylinder and tried it yet. It transformed my brakes. I'm sure the new AP's aren't as good as the old Alcons but i have the same feel and enough stopping power. Only time will tell if its a permanent fix or a glitter one!
Cheers
Stuart

Re: AT Power Dry Sump

I looked at the original one for my 3.5R but as you say it had design issues and was pulled from the market after various failures. Its the only one you can fit on an Atom because of the driveshaft and chassis leg preventing conventional dry sump installs. I sold my car to Christian Douglas not sure...

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

Tilton 74 Series Master Cylinder 7/8" (22.2mm) Bore Cylinder Only on e bay £69.48 from Competition Supplies. This will sort out long travel pedal and better feel. Mintex Pads i would have to look up but my choice may not be every bodies as i only use my Atom on circuit not the road.

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes

The brakes on my Atom 4 are great now i have altered them. Solid feel just like my Atom 3.5R. Simple fix really just need one new master cylinder and about 2 hours to fit and re bleed. An engineer friend of mine looked at it and suggested i alter the master cylinders to give a stiffer pedal with les...
