Sorry for the delay in responding. Race technology helped me. I needed to click the button that said legacy products prior to opening the editing software. It then loaded the .dat with no problem.

Have you tried looking into the file with a hex editor to see if there are any strings? You could also try some analysis tools like binwalk etc to see if it can extract anything...... bit of a crap shoot but you may find something.

Failing that, maybe try the race technologies tech. forum?

How can I read the .dat file for dash 2?

I have a backup file for my dash 2 but it is in .dat format not .cmg and none of the race technology software opens a .dat file. I know I can’t convert .dat to .cmg, I’m just trying to read the .dat values to copy the, down and make a new .cmg format. Thanks for the help!
