Note - you lose notifications when you are subscribed to a topic that is split

It seems that when you're subscribed to a topic (getting emailed notifications) when a topic is split, you won't receive any notifications for the "new" topic, only the original one.

This can have the effect of slowing down the discussion, since you won't get notices of new replies.

I don't know if this can be configured in the board software (or in a newer version). But perhaps it could be suggested to the SMF developers if it doesn't seem possible to do it.

The "fix" could either be copying the subscription status of all posters from the old topic to the new one, or by having it simply mail a "This topic has been split" message to all subscribed posters.
