7.2 to 1 ratio

Mine came with pads included, no idea what they are - there weren't options back then

Should I buy the EBC Standard Road (1 bolt) or EBC Standard Road (2 bolt) for the Spot V1 Caliper?
Also, what "ratio" did you choose?

The lever can be used as it is (there's a cable retainer you can get from factory, see pick - not expensive)

I cut the caliper-end of the cables to fit the cable adjuster/nipple I fitted

I cut the driver's side cable down a bit as it doesn't have as far to go

I get my MoT station to road test the brakes (they get a free passenger ride) and use a combination of engine braking and handbrake to get the required retardation. Not sure it would pass a rolling road test as it's difficult to get enough pull on the lever when inside the car

7.2 to 1 ratio used

Also found email from Alcon back in 2010 stating they only sell the handbrake calipers to Ariel

Great, this is what I was looking for!
Can I use the original cables and lever??
What ratio did you go for and does the spot calipers provide enough power to stop the rollers at the MOT?

If you can't pick up a second hand set or beg/borrow for MoT, you could buy spot calipers / cables / lever and make your own mounts - I did

Handbrake calipers

by Paros » Fri Apr 28, 2017 7:27 pm

Need help.
I have the bigger Alcon rear brakes (without handbrake).
Can anyone advise me what brand/model the handbrake kit is?
I don't have the standard fitting, meaning his has be fabricated so I am also interested in alternative handbrake calipers.
I think the discs are 22mm thick.
