That was epic, thanks for sharing. Is the sports exhaust an option then? :checkeredflag: :vroom: :checkeredflag:

I did venture that way to both days (once) to check the hill conditions, not that I was competitive :D I was surprised that they don't put heavy substrates down.

Glad it wasn't just us
4 hours to clean the car up
Leaving the car park thought it would be a good idea
To speed off down the road to clean the tires off
Not a great idea my son looked liked he fell in it  :roflp:

The paddock was fine!

-  you should have tried walking across the road to the spectator viewing area/car parks - the mud around the entrance (next to the loos - I hope it wasn't leakage?) was about a 2" deep viscous clay/straw mix which unfortunately, on the walk back to my car, 'overflowed' my sandals!!  ;D

It was nice to meet you Creighton - although I had to scrape the 'limpet like' mud and straw clinging to my unsuitable footware before I could even drive back to Newbury.

What was your overall position after the 4th run?

Hi Paul,

So, this is how it looked on the first run of the day, fast forward to 2:15

I was non competitive event so no times were taken. I think it'd been a decent tool for the job  ;D

Good to chat, the paddock was a bit messy but luckily the sun came up at the end which saved it! The straw set like concrete and the car looked like more like a Nomad when it got back home.

Glad you had a good time mate. If it wasn't for the fact I'm in sunny Majorca then I would have been there!

And just got sent this one. My daughter was taking the video, then realised she needed to cover her ears...but wanted to video. Confused me so much I missed a gear  ;D

It was still very wet under the trees. Forgot to mention about the drive back to the paddock, hats off to the residents who were out in force waving and shouting in the village.

So...

Great weekend at Kop Hill. In total I managed four goes up the hill, two on each day. The weather was supposed to be better on the Sunday but it ended up the other way around. I had a marshal passenger on the first run, he made a donation to charity so that was perfect. Every run I tried to get a passenger to do the same as it fits in with the spirit of the event.

Phil was on hand to take a video of the first run. The photographer asked me if we could do some showboating off the line as everyone was setting off on launch control, the crowd were growing restless. I guess this clip answers the question of how the sports exhaust sounds  ;D

The next run was a bit quicker, was conscious not to upset the guys as one stupid mistake would stuff the day up for everyone. It was all well within limits. We returned on Sunday and the weather was very murky, cold and it was very slippery. The first run was mega slippy, mud, straw and crap everywhere. It's not my preference but the V70's soon let you know when the grip is going. On the line I gave up warming the mud up in the end, although it did make some very pretty patterns on the tub  :)

The last one on Sunday was good. It was wet in the trees still but all good fun, the view from the Aston behind;

The crowd were awesome the whole event, loads of interest in the car and various kids jumping in for pictures. It is a very serious event these days and the range of cars displayed is truly spectacular. BMW, Porsche, Mercedes all turned up again with their decent kit, watching muddy boots in and out of the cream interiors made the rain bearable for me. Triumph had a decent stand as well, had a chat to them and they said they'd sold a couple off of the stand, covered the costs and got some good leads. There was an Aston going up, sponsored by the RAF or something, they sold every ride up, hopefully this will guilt Stratstone Aston into coming next year.

The organisers were brilliant and have asked if the Atom is going again next year, I hope so. The favourite car of the day, as voted for was a Bentley Blower. However, I was reliably informed the Atom was the one that made everyone smile the most  :tu:

Lastly, good to see those that ventured out. Shame about the weather on Sunday but meh. If any of the organisers read this then good on you for letting me in this year, I think it was a success...apart from the tyre bill  ;)

Not long now!

The car will be in the paddock with the 'exotics' (dancers I hope, but unlikely). No idea of the amount of goes I am going to get but might have a sussed by the end of Sunday  ;D

Fingers crossed for the weather, hope to see some of you there.

Well done mate great news
I feel a support convoy is on the cards
Hopefully the field is a bit dryer than last year
Driving home with clay all over your feet was interesting  ;D

Considering I grew up in the town I've never even been along and spectated! I had better put the date in my diary!
