Tim

I remember Dave Beecroft from the days when he looked after Cattterham racecars.

He's certainly had an interesting journey from there to where he is now ;)

usual problem there then...pupils actually listening :o

got to say though....the atom from my vast experience with this subject, is actually a good car for teaching people in. mine has had 2 excursions in its life in the hands of a novice. one involved presssing accellerator, not the brake at druids of all places, instructor wished then that i had fitted that kill switch i had been talking about all year.....but did thank his lucky stars that i have the duel control brake system (tim, tom developed this system for me with arch motors, so it would be a very good idea if you get one to) other was a spin in the complex at silverstone....big right foot on loud pedal situation, slow speed so no harm, doubt kill switch would have saved that one, instructor was just red faced!

must say though, 300 for instruction, nope but great for hot laps.

I'm saying nothing! LOL

Dual brake pedal system sounds good to me, will speak to you about it.

I did suggest that a 245 might be more suitable, but our man wants a 300! Really though, I don't know what the big deal is. All you do with any very powerful car is build up to speed slowly. It the pupil listens to the instructor and does what they are told to do there shouldn't be a problem. I might suggest we have a kill button fitten though, just as a safety precaution.

Tim

Are you with "Team Zero" & Dave Beecroft this season, or have I misunderstood the situation?
Nobby,

No you haven't misunderstood. I've been working with Xero and DB for several months and will continue to do so for the forseable future.

Wahou, very nice Tim !  :P So, this is the C5R... I love how it sounds.... Do you know the price of the enormous carbon wing and if it fits a normal C5 ? ;)

See you son in Belgium  ;D
It's "our" C5R, a GT3/NGT class car. It's not the same as the spaceframe, GT2 spec, GTS class cars the factory ran (now replaced by C6's). In Belcar there is a GTS spec car driven by Marc Goosens, this is it:

This is a spaceframe chassis and has a 700bhp 7 litre Engine!

Our car, here in the same race:

Image

Is a modified road chassis with our own in-house built body in part GRP, part Carbon Fibre and it runs a 5.7 litre engine at about 450 bhp with Hewland sequential gearbox.

That particular wing (which we manufacture in-house) costs about £1,500. It's too wide for a standard road Corvette though because, what isn't instanly apparent on the race Corvettes is that the body is wider than the road car, the wheel arches are flared quite substantially to accommodate the wheels and tyres, and as the regulations allow the wing to be as wide as the maximum width of the body. So it would sick out too far either side on the road car. We can make then to fit a road car though.

Got your email and replied, cheers.

Like I said in the email, if you want to met up in Belgium look out for us at Spa or Zolder (there's also one round at the Lausitzring in Germany), we will be running this Corvette:

This was taken in the pitlane at Zolder at the last round of Belcar in October - the pic links to a big version (2048 x 1536 - 689k)

And what are the prices for renting a 245 a full day please ?
£1,200 (GBP) for tracks in the UK (I noticed you're in Belgium) with me instructing. It would cost more if you wanted it taken to Belgium, however my team will be coming to Spa and Zolder several times as we're racing in Belcar, so there might be a way it could tie up with that.

BTW, amongst other things (hopefully) I will be racing this car this year:

Image

It's a Clubmans Cup Car the team have designed and built and hope to sell to customers. To market it, it has to be out there racing, so I got the job of racing in it for the season (or most of it).

They're not particularly powerful, only having a sealed 120 bhp Rover K Series engine. But they have relatively big sticky slick tyres and downforce, so they're quick around a track. For example, Copse at Silverstone is flat in top with not even a lift!
