I'd axe the tent and take a couple of bivvy bags.  About 1/4 of the size and weight. Properly waterproof too.

Personally, if stainless is unappetizing to you I'd look into ceramic coatings (Jet-Hot is just one company). A wide variety of colors and they always return to their normal coloring when they cool. They have a red that turns orange when hot that's weird but could work if you have the orange body kit. :) And a silver that looks remarkably like chrome.

It discolours with heat but doesn't rust. Annoyingly however, the connecting flanges welded to the stainlsess section on my Atom are NOT stainless, evident by the rusting!!

You don't need a stainless manifold and the ali bits Ariel should chuck in for free!
Stainless silencer would be nice though.

IMHO don't bother with anything stainless on the exhaust system. It doesn't stay shiny for very long at all! Apparently, that's true even if you can be bothered to clean it and polish it (which I can't)

Stupid question: Is there a difference between anthracite & black?
Anthracite is a kind of metallic dark grey And black is.......well..black :)

i'm going for a anthracite frame at a extra cost aswell.

If you like the black frame (which i do, it's different) then go for it.

I agree. I like the black chassis too. But keep adding to my spec so can't really afford the extra £300. Something's gotta give.

What do you reckon stainless 4-2-1 manifold, stainless silencer & aluminium gear knob/handbrake or Black chassis?

Wish I wasn't on such a tight budget!!! >:(

Mine's not built yet. I'm running out of things to do while I wait. Might have to take up knitting or something ;D
I fancy getting it sprayed silver like the French one in the pic.

Thanks Bruce
I'm quite interested in the luxury item for £40. It doesn't mention it being water resistant which is a slight concern to me.
If the car is close by, with the cover on, would you leave things like bags, helmets etc inside? I mean like when we go on the beach or are asleep in the tent. Can the cover be locked?

or for a massive £40 there's the luxury of

...which I think is simlar material to the one I had made for my Alvis - it packs down to practically nothing!

Sebby - I can't remember - how tall are you? As Ben says, if you're not on the furthest back position, there's quite a bit of space behind the seats for soft luggage...
Bit of a short-arse really at 5"9 1/2. My co-driver is roughly the same height as me so no problems about having to move the seat.

Bruce please can you give a link to the car cover to which you refer. I've found one on Argos for £40. I like the idea of reversing on and zipping up.

Cheers
