Page 16 says TIP: disconnect battery will clear and reset to defaults

I'll give that a go, cheers

Isn't the reset process in the handbook?

Er, does anyone have the factory settings for this?  Been fiddling with mine and can't find the paper I wrote them down on now  :-[

My adjustments are detailed here and they improved the accuracy a lot.

The forum search function brings up more threads on this topic as well.

Ok thanks thats very detailed.  So are we saying the my 110 ohms needs to be more like 40.5 ohms?

Mine never has all the bards showing even when its brimmed...

From my personal experience, where track driving is concerned, you will want to refill once the gauge shows empty, irrespective of whether it is or not. With approximately quarter of a tank left, I suffer fuel starvation issues on higher g corners.

I have the same problem. It's been an issue on the track because I keep seeing the tank looking like it's empty, then showing it's a quarter full, then empty for a while.

Even though I'm pretty sure I'm not going to run out, it bothers me and sits in the back of my mind haunting me when I need to be focused on driving at the limit. Even ended my session early, only to find there was over two gallons left.

Annoying and it seems unnecessary when no other modern car I've been in has had that fluctuation problem.

I once took a multimeter to the petrol gauge and measured the resistance of the sensor every 1L as I filled the tank, with a view to making a device to correct for the non regularly shaped tank.

never bothered to do anything with the data.  I still have the notebook I think

Haha I bet that got even more looks than the usual Atom fill up!

I note the mileage on each fuel reciept, and (eventually) get round to entering them all in a spreadsheet which works out mpg etc. A while ago, to work out the fuel gauge conundrum, I started noting down what the fuel gauge had been displaying beforehand, to try to build a correlation from that! Which solved my confusion, as I now know that the tank is only half full when the fuel gauge says 3/4!

Absolutely love this level of Atom geekyness!!

One of my other cars has an average MPH counter!! I started noting that down to try to get a correlation with mpg!

Iv read loads on this forum about this subject, and even fiddled exstensively with the spa dash following guides etc, and little seems to really nail it.

As others have said its best to just judge it on mileage. Brim the tank and carry a jerry can under the passenger footrest if you have one, drive your normal style keeping and eye on mileage and what the dash gauge is saying until you literally run out. Then you will have an idea on your tanks characteristics when low.

Mine reads flashing empty and I can still go about 30 miles of rd driving, so prob has about 6ltr still in from the flashing E first coming on.

Somewhere way back in the depths of the forum is a guide on how to re-calibrate the fuel gauge, I think.

Mine has the older style gauge which counts in number of litres, not bars. It often fluctuates randomly by up to 10 litres! Though does seem more consistent as it approaches zero. However when the tank is full, the display says 38l, half full says 29l, quarter full says 10l and when it says zero there's still about 2l left...

Like others, I reset the mileometer and start looking around 160, panicking around 180 and driving ever more gently around 200 miles!!

The fuel gauge on my Atom 2 was hopeless, ran out twice, both on motorways looking for he next services, bloody embarrassing. As the others have said the best thing to do is reset the trip each time you fill and stop any time close to 150 - 160 miles.

Julian
