Good evening all. I'm new on an will do the proper intro's but i actually went to see this car. only 432 miles and it is so box fresh its crazy. not so much as a spec of dust on it. this was actually what put me off as I'm looking to predominently track mine; it just felt too good to use! Off to view a supercharged 2 this weekend as the price point seems better for what i want to use the car for.

2. Ariel had a very similar experience with their demonstrator I've been told.

I have absolute confidence they are bulletproof. From what I understand they're designed for cars with a lot more than 350hp.

Mine hasn't skipped a beat and I don't expect it ever to cost me a penny.
The 3.5R for sale a few months back was a special build from a forum member, slightly more power etc, orange frame..... He spent quite a lot on the box servicing, although it lived on track. It's a race box, designed for one thing and one thing only. I'd have to drive the Quaife before making a decision. If it was a pain when not 'on it' I doubt i'd bother. I do love the drama of them, but for me, and for a road car, marginal gains at £15K.

The sadev is designed for much HEAVIER cars. I think that contributes to the bullet proof”ness”

I have the sadev in my nomad R. I recall asking Henry about maintenance when I was committing to the buy. He said once run in they are bullet proof and won’t require any special maintenance. Time will tell but it’s an amazing piece of engineering. Transforms the car completely!

Having seen a couple of bills for the Sadev boxes when it's time to refresh them I think you need to be a fairly committed track day fan to get the most out of the investment. Purchasing used, I would ask for a documented refresh for the gearbox pre-sale.

FWIW - When my Atom was rebuilt by Steve et al at the factory, from the frame up, as a 3.5R in 2018 I was told that adding the Sadev sequential gearbox to the standard manual 3 5R upgrade would add an additional (north of) £30,000 to the upgrade costs - including labour and VAT!

The £22,200 cost for the Sadev is only for a box of gearbox parts sat alongside the car!

Would a 70k 3.5R be worth less a year later?
I suspect not.

Nope. Your car still is a 95k car i think

A 90 mile 4 car is being sold for less than 70k, so easy question to answer if you like the value of your investment to be the same after a year or so

Would a Quaife equipped 4 with the 350 upgrade be under £70k?

Providing they are factory maintained, low mileage, right spec and not track slags i can't see how they will lose money.

Original price was £80k with the sequential box so £70k without this and mags is strong money.
I have the factory's 2017 pricing spreadsheet and based on the advert, it comes to just under £70k.

The Sadev price at build was £22,200 inc. VAT, the Ohlins were £5358 and the Dymags were £3836, so with all them fitted it have cost £97k, or £75k without the Sadev. :H:
Thanks for that - looks like in 2014 there was poetic license https://www.motor1.com/news/46680/ariel ... price-tag/

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new- ... ars-launch

And £28k quote from the factory was pulled from the air.

What was the charge for the power hike and side pods?
The 350bhp upgrade was £9528.
