Pages are either taking ages to load on the forum tonight or they don't load at all.

When the new page doesn't load, the current page remains in view and the following message is added to the bottom.

Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /home/rosscp/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php
Line: 2005

Repeatedly clicking to read a new page eventually works but it is taking ages.

The internet's brilliant - most problems just go away, given time! In fact, I think BT use this as the central pillar of their business model!

I hadn't had any problems last night when Ultrasound was asking but it just came to mind when I had difficulty getting through to make that post so I thought I'd mention it just in case.

No more problems after that however.

I couldn't get on for several hours last night, but no problems today.  Strange how quickly you become a junkie around here!  You must be a bunch of good people because I don't like hanging out with fools!

I'm not aware of any problems Alec - I think there'll always be the odd person having some kind of problem somewhere, but right now I don't think there are any issues at the server end.

Has anyone been having problems with the forum recently?

It's just taken me 20 minutes to post a reply as I kept getting a message saying that it had 'Gone Away'.

Also, last night Ultrasound posted on Pistonheads saying that he was having problems getting on the site.

I think there are still some issues with occasional timeouts occuring that I'm going to have to talk to the ISP about.

When it was off for the day I was getting this response (if it means anything to anyone)  .

btw, I take backups of the forum each week and have tested a complete rebuild from scratch (although not recently to be fair so I should do that again some time).

The reason is that it seems like Zen have decided to move the box that holds the forum from one site to another (happening now) but didn't bother telling Ross which was a bit stupid.  That's the problem with favours. Ross is going to see about moving the forum and gallery to a standard production box rather than the dedicated testbox we have right now.

Anyway...welcome back to Pistonheads for the time being - I hope it's just for today...

Yes, I couldn't connect for +24Hr. I actually got some work done
