BTW, your dealer will need to order this. In normal Saturn / Cobalt applications, this is "lifetime fill" and the shop gets a barrel of it as part of their standard equipment, in case they have to drain and disassemble a transmission. But they don't stock the quart containers. My local Saturn dealer was quite surprised when I ordered 8 containers and I told him it was a 5000-mile interval in our cars. But he did give me the wholesale price in exchange for me bringing the Atom by for him to look at. As usual, the whole dealership emptied out into the lot to look at the Atom.

Old time transmissions?

Gears are gears. Roller bearings are...bearings.

Synchronizers are...the same too.       So,what has changed?

Trannys that see hard use hold up better with 75wt. synthetic gear oil.

I get to see HUNDREDS of failures a year. In many vehicles.  Even Hondas ;D

But,the best thing I can do for a new tranny is a bottle of Magic juice.  (Megapower 10)

                                                                                                           One of my secret weapons.

In old time transmissions I'd agree with you.

My Tremec 6 speed in my V calls for ATF, but I use RP synchro max which is like 5-10wt and I'm pushing over 500hp through it, so I'm not worried about my *cough* 300hp.

BUT... I'm changing about every 3-4th track events.. because I am putting high proportionate amount of WFO time of *cough* 300hp through it.
