Castle Combe Club Track Day FAQs

As you may have heard, the club is returning for an exclusive track day at the fast and flowing Castle Combe in early September, 2025!

Here are some frequently asked questions to help make you day more fun:

  • Where can I book this amazing experience?
    • Simply head over to the Club’s forum board here and follow the instructions. The event is open to members, forum/WhatsApp/Meta users, and friends.
  • How much is it?
    • The initial deposit (to secure you place) is £100, and the total cost is expected to be around £260, assuming we get around 30-35 places sold. We will confirm pricing shortly, but be assured, the club as per previous years will subsidise the cost to keep it as low as possible.
  • When is it?
    • September 15th, 2025. Gates open at 07:30 and track time is scheduled for 09:00.
  • I’m a newbie, is it safe for me to take my pride and joy out on track?
    • So first off, all motorsport is dangerous, but as you likely own a lightweight specialist vehicle, you get it. That said, a Club track day is a great place to explore the performance of your car in a controlled environment. With plenty of space, low numbers, on-hand tuition and friendly owners who are more than happy to help out, the event is a relaxed platform to launch your new most favorite pass time from! If you are new to track, the best upgrade you can make is to get some basic instruction. Ask for a session of instruction from one of the professional instructors, ask for passenger rides with more experienced track drivers and don’t try and go as fast as you can straight away!
  • I’m an old hand, can I time my laps?
    • Normal track day rules apply – so no timing, racing or aggressive driving please. Overtaking on the right by permission only and no overtaking in the braking zones or corners etc. You know the drill.
  • What settings do I need for my suspension and tyres?
    • There is a wealth of info out there on settings, but if you are not sure about how many clicks to wind on or off, or tyre pressures, please ask the factory support team who will be on site to help out.
  • What do I need to do to prep my car?
    • Atoms and Nomads thrive on the track, but as with all mechanical things, it’s good to give them a check over before you get going as they will be spending more time at operating at extremes than normal. So a visual check of the car, looking for leaks, wear and tear and damage is a good place to start. Check all fluids are topped up and fastenings are tight (it’s a good idea to torque check your wheel nuts throughout the day!). Tyres and pads are the obvious things to keep an eye on as wear can be fast in certain circumstances.
  • Where can I stay overnight?
    • Members speak highly of the Manor House Hotel and Golf Club, which is just 1.4 miles away from the circuit and the bar will stay open as long as you remain drinking (although it is not the cheapest hotel!) Links to this and other recommendations can be found here. Other folk (who will be using trailers) rate the Stanton Manor Hotel
  • What’s the dress code?
    • Arms and legs must be covered in open cars and full face helmets worn for cars without windscreens. Trousers and open face helmets are allowed in tin tops.
  • Can I bring my other car or is just for Atoms and Nomads?
    • Yes, you can bring other cars – you are paying for your space as a driver, but you can only drive one car on track at a time.
  • What about fuel?
    • Petrol is available from a number local, off site petrol stations. Human food (breakfast, lunch and refreshments) are available on site.
  • Can I hire a pit garage?
    • Castle Combe has an open air paddock, with no garages. Camping chairs and pop up gazebos are not uncommon.
  • How do I get there?
    • Castle Combe is just off the M4 between Bristol and Swindon, located at postcode SN14 7EY. More details are here including helipad instructions.

If you have a question that is not answered here, pleas use the contact form to ask it and we will update this page. Maybe.
